AJA: Simon Deng On Freedom, Israel and Human Rights

Join the American Jewish Alliance for a powerful conversation with Simon Deng, a former child slave from South Sudan who went on to become a human rights activist, public speaker, professional swimmer, and outspoken advocate for Israel and the Jewish community.

Simon will share his extraordinary journey from surviving slavery and persecution to dedicating his life to fighting injustice and standing up for others. He will discuss his decades of human rights advocacy, his connection to the Jewish community, and why he has been so committed to standing with Israel. Since October 7, Simon has been a vocal advocate for Israel and the hostages, marching regularly in New York and traveling to Israel, where he walked from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and met with hostage families.

The conversation will also explore Simon’s work strengthening the relationship between African and Jewish communities, including his role as co-founder of the African Jewish Alliance. Hear Simon’s remarkable story firsthand and gain a unique perspective on survival, courage, antisemitism, human rights, and what it means to stand with the Jewish community in the face of hate.
